CGB-GEJ. Daniel B. MOLBY, b. June 10, 1834, in the town of Van Buren, Onondaga Co., N.Y. (Chester 5, Jonathan 4, Sam.3, Sam.2, Wm.1). m. Nov. 16, 1859, Sallie ROUSE, dau. of Collin Rouse and Mira ----. She was b. Jan. 31, 1840, in New York State; d. Oct. 8, 1891.

He was a carpenter by trade. His father died when he was about three years old and his mother remarried and went west a few years later. His uncle, Benjamin Molby of Van Buren was made his guardian. He grew up in the town of Van Buren; married there and his two children were born there. Some time after 1865 he went West, perhaps at the same time his uncle Benjamin did, and settled in Michigan.

According to Mr. Fred A Molby of Baldwin, Kansas, his grave is in Glendale Cemetery, Waverly Twp., Van Buren Co., Mich. 1865 Census. Van Buren--2nd Election District.

   150. Living in the family of Simon Rouse is--
Daniel Maltby, 31 M. boarder, Carpenter, Onondaga. once.
         Sally " 25 F. wife " "
         Simon L. "(?) 15 M. g.son " single
                                     June 20, 1865

Note. The record before me of Daniel B. Molby gives him a son "Simon L. Molby." Here a Simon L. 15 years old in 1865, or born 1850, is given as "grandson." As Sally the wife of Daniel, is recorded as born in 1840, I think there is no question but what "Simon L." was a grandson of Simon Rouse in whose family Daniel and wife, Sally Rouse was living.

(Guardian Records in Syracuse surrogate's office.)

"Daniel B. Molby becomes of age June 10, 1855 (so born June 10, 1834). This agrees with Bible record. Benjamin Molby of Town of Van Buren, guardian. Letters CC. 73.

Mr F. A. Molby of Baldwin, Kansas, writes: "The census of 1880 listed them in Waverly Twp., Van Buren Co., Mich. Much of their life was in Michigan, in part at Dryden, Lapeer County."

Mrs. Linda Harrington, who lived on the West Dead Creek Road, in the town of Van Buren (Phone 637W3) gave the following:

William Rouse who married Rebecca Spore had a brother Simon Rouse who married Phebe Grover and had two children: Selina Rouse and Colin Rouse. Colin went west, married and had two children, one of whom was Sally.

Daniel B. Molby died May 3, 1905, and his wife died Oct. 8, 1891, graves in cemetery on Sec. 34, Waverly Twp, Van Buren Co., Mich. He was affectionately known as Uncle Dan. (Said to have had 2 children)
